Composition Premiere @ Lincoln Center’s NEXT250

  • David Rubenstein Atrium, Lincoln Center 1887 Broadway New York, New York, 10023 United States (map)

As part of Lincoln Center’s NEXT250 celebration, a day-long showcase highlighting the next generation of American musical talent, pianist and producer Lara Downes brings together rising young artists from across the country to reflect on the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary. The event explores how emerging musicians are shaping the future of American culture while engaging with the artistic traditions that came before them. Among the featured performers is flutist Nikka Gershman, a student at The Juilliard School and Kovner Fellow, who will premiere an excerpt from her original composition, Atonement Sonata for flute and piano. Blending neo-Romantic lyricism, virtuosic writing, and striking emotional contrasts, the work reflects Gershman’s distinctive artistic voice while embodying the spirit of NEXT250: drawing inspiration from the past to create something new for the future.

Free, no tickets required.
